Love this, Jenne. I find I spend a lot of energy fighting beliefs I was raised with. Performing surgery to change a child's normal anatomy rather than question the way shoes are made...just breathtakingly arrogant. As is the belief that the only good bacteria is a dead bacteria. But nature rolls on, as nature does, and now we're realizing that that arrogance was dangerous ignorance. And still "antibacterial" products are pushed hard at the consumer, despite the knowledge that they select for resistant strains.

Re going barefoot--my biggest woe when winter comes is having to put on shoes. But this winter, maybe I'll challenge that assumption, too. :-)

Jon,
Great to hear from you. Hope you and your family are well. Step by step my Rosacea is getting better. Fortunately IPAs tend to not aggravate it. I'm pretty sure it's the medicinal value of the hops. Progress on my book is going well. Not fast, but good.

Just saying hi, I still stop by to check once in a while! What makes the candy cane cozy have anything to do with candy canes?

As to beer, I've mostly been pouring Sam Adams Cream Stout straight down into a big pint glass that says "Guiness" all over it.

I'll look for the Allagash Fluxus. There ought to be some in southern Maine, don't you think? Though I like dark beer in the winter.
